Dr. Nathaniel Tablante: AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow
The Department of VetMed’s Dr. Nathaniel Tablante was recently mentioned in an article by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). This year, Dr. Tablante was selected to be a part of the 41st class of AAAS Science & Technology Fellows. The AAAS Science and Technology Fellowships provide the opportunity for scientists and engineers to either work alongside a Congressional staff member or in one of 15 federal agencies.
Dr. Tablante is currently sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association, in the office of Representative Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (D-GA). Congressman Bishop has been actively involved in poultry-related issues and was an ideal choice for Dr. Tablante, who specializes in poultry disease.
In the article, three of the selected Congressional Fellows (including Dr. Tablante) discuss the importance of policy making and the potential impact these policies can have on the public.
