University of Maryland Honors Dr. Tablante with Emeritus Faculty Appointment
The University of Maryland Veterinary Medicine Department is pleased to announce that Dr. Tablante has been granted Emeritus Professor status in recognition of his outstanding contributions to poultry medicine, epidemiology, poultry health management and teaching.
Dr. Tablante has significantly advanced the understanding and control of economically important poultry diseases, particularly on the Delmarva Peninsula. His research has led to the development of practical strategies for disease prevention and control, benefiting both commercial and small-scale poultry producers.
Dr. Tablante’s extension activities focused on developing educational programs on poultry biosecurity and disease prevention. These have had a far-reaching impact, enhancing the knowledge and practices of poultry producers across the region.
In his emeritus role, Dr. Tablante will continue to advise and mentor students and faculty, contribute to ongoing research, and offer his expertise through extension services and consultations. His many years of experience as an effective program leader and team player will support the department’s future goals and endeavors. Tablante's expertise will also be invaluable for local, national, and international programs in veterinary medicine, particularly poultry health and zoonotic diseases.
