Dr. Berglund's Laboratory

Dr. Berglund's lab develops mesenchymal stem cell therapies for inflammatory diseases. These cells secrete anti-inflammatory factors and promote tissue repair. Obtained from bone marrow, they're cultured and injected to treat patients. Dr. Berglund enhances their properties using transforming growth factor-b to create a safe off-the-shelf therapy.

Dr. Zhu's Laboratory

Allergic airway inflammations, including asthma, are characterized by bronchial inflammation and Th2 cell-driven responses. Current treatments have limitations, prompting the search for novel therapies. Dr. Xiaoping Zhu's lab investigates using the CD23 receptor to deliver immunotherapeutic proteins to target Th2 cells in asthma. These studies offer hope for improved therapies against severe asthma and allergic diseases.
