Ms. Liping Yang Awarded the Wallace Prescott Rowe Award

April 17, 2018

Ms. Liping Yang was awarded the Wallace Prescott Rowe award this week.  This is a cash award given to the University for an outstanding graduate student working in virology or a related area that can be used by the student to further enhance their career.  The title of her dissertation is "Antagonizing JAK/STAT signaling by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus."    Her research focuses on elucidating mechanisms of virus-host interaction to facilitate the future development of antiviral therapeutics and vaccines against viral infectious diseases. She is studying porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus. Her project is elucidating the molecular mechanisms of PRRSV replication and interference with the host innate immunity. Ms. Yang was also given the Outstanding Graduate Student award by the AGNR Alumni Association in a ceremony held last week.  Congratulations, Liping!
